sethaustinphotography.com: FAQ

Q: What should I wear for my portraits?
A: First of all, wear something that you will be comfortable in. That will show through in your photos. Second, Keep it simple. Simple clothing always photographs best. Stay away from loud prints or exaggerated styles as these tend to draw attention to themselves and away from you and your face. I'm not saying to not be you, but be aware of the effect your clothing will have on your portraits. Also, having a theme in group photos will definitely make for a more powerful portrait. Third, Pay attention to details. Get out the iron, make sure things match, and make sure shoes are clean and match your outfits as well.

Q: How do I purchase my prints?
A: There are several ways to purchase your prints. Each print is identified with a 2 digit number that can be found on the lower left of each proof page. Choose your prints using this number and order one of three ways. I can provide you with a order form that you can fill out and return to me with a personal check. You can call me or email me and give me your order and then send or drop off a personal check. Or you can also purchase your prints through this site and pay using PayPal, either through your checking account or via credit card. Just click on the Add to Cart link on the right below each proof and choose your prints, you will then be directed to the PayPal site for payment.

Q: How long will it take to get my prints?
A: Typically about two weeks. I individually edit each image to the highest quality and then have the images printed by a professional printer. I will do my best to get your prints back to you as soon as possible.

Q: Can I get my prints in Black and White?
A: Absolutely! Any prints can be digitally manipulated to black and white. In fact, there are a number of digital special effects available such as Sepia toning, Colorized Black and Whites, diffuse glow, high key, vignettes, tilting and cropping. Let me know if you are looking for something specific and I will do my best to provide it. I also provide these effects free of charge. The only added charge you may incur is if you select a specialty paper, such as Ilfords Professional Black and White paper. (see Pricing)

Q: Can you "airbrush" out blemishes?
A: Yes, in fact I do for all proofs prior to you seeing them. I want you to get the best portraits possible with out you having to worry if you will have a zit on your forehead on the day of your sitting. I do not remove scars, birthmarks, moles, etc, unless you ask. You may consider that mole to be a beauty mark :)
